Supervisor and communication skills are essential. Positive attitude and creativity needed. Skilled critical thinker with excellent problem solving and troubleshooting abilities. Interest in promoting Performance Improvement (PI) and cost effectiveness. Responsible for ensuring staffing needs are met. Coordinating day-to-day and global functions of the unit in line with Memorial’s values and the direction of the units. Leadership experience including staff development and performance review preferred. Willingness to be flexible and dedicated. End of life or Hospice experience preferred. Responsible for the safe delivery of care within the Hospice Care Facility 24/7 including nursing and other staffing, food delivery, medical supplies, budget and other items necessary to meeting facility requirements and regulations. Coordinates wtih the Home Hospice staff/supervisor. Responsible to the Home Care Director.

Job Qualifications:

1. Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Washington required.
2. BS in nursing or related field preferred.
3. Current BLS/HCP card approved by the American Heart Association required.
4. At least 3 years nursing experience required.

• Review, supervise and teach complete and accurate recording of information necessary for meeting the patient’s needs and for legal documentation.
• Actively promote good community relations by serving as a resource person and working with other members of the health care team/organizations.
• Establish open communication and a professional relationship with the Medical Staff, Hospice Home Team, Home Health, Transitions and Inpatient Hospital Nursing Staff.
• Maintain budgetary responsibility for the unit by establishing and maintaining a yearly budget.
• Promote educational opportunities and develop staff leadership roles.
• Accountable for 24 hour staffing requirements of unit. Be perceived as available by staff.

An innovative, cutting edge program using Human and Medium Fidelity Patient Simulation. ACES prepares staff for optimal performance in both routine and unusual patient scenarios.

ACES combines discussion of key policy and procedures with hands on skills training and application. It is an opportunity for new staff to become familiar with memorial’s philosophies, policies, procedures, software, equipment and supplies.

The Springs Memorial Rehabilitation and Occupational Medicine combines physical, occupational, and massage therapy, along with occupational medicine under one roof, to provide a comprehensive approach for managing an individual’s recovery from illness or injury. Rehabilitation therapists help people recover physically and provide them with the occupational skills needed to get back to their active lives. Clinical specialists educate on topics that can affect a person’s life, such as geriatrics, occupational health and lymphedema. As a Washington State-designated Center of Occupational Health and Education (COHE), occupational medicine providers conduct initial evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment of all forms of occupational injury. Housed together, medical providers, clinical specialists, and therapist have the opportunity to meet regularly in multidisciplinary conferences to offer patients a holistic approach to injury resolution.

The Surgi-Center at Memorial is located on the main floor of West Pavilion I and includes four surgical suites used to perform orthopaedic, ophthalmology, podiatry, gynecological, plastic/reconstructive and general surgery procedures. A tunnel underneath 30th Avenue provides access for medical care teams to move seamlessly between the Surgi-Center at Memorial and main campus operating rooms, as well as excellent patient transport capability between the two facilities.

Children’s Village was created by local community agencies to serve children with special health care needs. Maternal Health Services is a group of community-based programs and services focused on providing preventive health and educational services for growing families. The services that are available include: the Central Washington Genetics Program, offering genetic counseling and specialized genetic testing; the First Steps Program which offers expectant mothers health education and help in accessing community resources; the Maternal-Child Health Program, providing home visits by a community health nurse to the families of high-risk infants and children; and After the Baby Comes (ABC), a program for new parents during the first two weeks after the baby’s birth.

With Memorial’s Home Care Services patients can receive home health care such as physical, occupational and speech therapy and skilled nursing in the comfort of their own homes. Also available are visits from medical, social workers and home health aides. Hospice offers comprehensive support to terminally ill patients and their families. In addition to providing pain and symptom management for the patient, hospice provides comfort and reassurance to families during this uncertain life transition. Hospice provides comfort care and brings quality of life during the final days of a person’s life while supporting families through this difficult time. Some of the additional specialized services provided include spiritual care, nutritional education and bereavement services.

Garden Village provides assistance with adult daily living skills for those over age 50 with complex psychiatric conditions like Alzheimer’s disease. A team of nurses, social workers, nursing assistants and rehabilitation specialists assess medical needs, offer medication management and nutrition counseling and behavioral intervention, all within a homelike setting.

Cascadians – The Cascadians is an outdoor recreation and conservation club located in Yakima, Washington. Activities include hiking, backpacking, climbing, skiing, bicycling, kayaking, and rafting. Cascadians have been enjoying the trails and peaks of the Pacific Northwest since 1920.

Fifth Floor

With 42 beds in total, Fifth floor west delivers services to primarily orthopaedic and neurological patients and thus relies heavily on those nursing specialties. Fifth floor east provides general medical and surgical patients. This unit provides a great foundation for new grads and for experienced nurses offers the comfort and support of a unit filled with highly skilled professionals.

Fourth Floor

Our fourth floor is dedicated to birthing with Family Birthplace, providing labor, deliver, recovery and post partum services.It is a comprehensive center that offers care for both low and high risk pregnancies. Memorial is the only hospital in Yakima offering birthing services with approximately 3,000 deliveries each year. While experience is preferred, new grads are still encouraged to apply.

Third Floor

Women’s Urology on our Third Floor is a highly dynamic unit focusing on women’s health. This unit is is staffed by a highly supportive team dedicated to patient care. While experience is preferred, new grads are still encouraged to apply.

Also on our third floor are our Neonatal Intensive Care and Pediatric Units ( 3N & 3NW). Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital is the primary hospital in the region offering pediatric inpatient services. While experience is preferred, new grads are still encouraged to apply.

Second Floor
2E/Wis a joint unit caring for general medical and oncology patients. 2 East is a 15 bed Oncology specializing in the administration of chemo therapy, symptom management and end of life care. 2 West is a 19 bed general medical unit with most patients in this unit being geriatric. These units offer strong team nursing support and provide a great foundation for new grads.

Also located on second floor ACU, CCU and 2 South. ACU is a 20-bed telemetry and advanced care unit especially focused on cardiac care, and other more acute medical conditions that are not primarily cardiac. CCU is an 11-bed critical care unit that cares for medical, surgical, cardiac, trauma, neuro and pediatric patients. 2 South is a small overflow area which normally has telemetry patients, but may have some med/surg patients depending on the need in house. Experience preferred. New grads are also encouraged to apply. Training into the CCU is optional when determined appropriate by the staff member and management.

Float Pool
The Float Pool provides coverage to multiple units including Medical Surgical, Ortho/Neuro, Oncology and Telemetry Units. Nurses in the Float are clinically competent to float to many areas in the acute care setting and may float to more than one are during any one shift. Our float pool nurses are highly skilled and experienced, demonstrating competencies in multiple departments while being highly adaptable to changing priorities. Experience is preferred, however, new grads are also encouraged to apply.
